A Practice Founded on Patience and Precision
Warisan was built around a single conviction: that inheritance matters deserve more than efficiency — they deserve care.
Back to HomeWho Warisan Is
Warisan was established in Kuala Lumpur to serve families at a specific, often difficult juncture — when a loved one has passed or when the question of how to prepare for the future arises. The name itself, meaning "inheritance" or "legacy" in Malay, reflects the scope of the practice and the weight with which we approach it.
The practice was founded after years of working within broader law firms where estate and succession matters were frequently treated as administrative tasks, moved through quickly and delegated to junior staff. The founding lawyer saw a different need — families who wanted someone to sit with them, explain what the law requires, and help them understand every step. Warisan was built to fill that gap.
Today, Warisan remains a focused practice. We do not take on every area of law. We work within inheritance matters — will drafting, probate applications, and estate consultations — because doing fewer things with greater depth serves our clients better. Each engagement is led by a qualified lawyer from first meeting to final document.
Our office is in Jalan Raja Chulan, at the centre of Kuala Lumpur's professional district. We serve clients from across the Klang Valley and, for consultations, can accommodate those who prefer to meet by telephone or video call.

Professional Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Malaysian Bar Compliance
We adhere to the Legal Profession Act 1976, the Solicitors' Accounts Rules, and the Rulings of the Bar Council. Our practising certificates are renewed annually.
Legal Professional Privilege
All communications between client and lawyer are protected. We do not share client information with third parties except where specifically instructed or legally required.
Written Scope Before Engagement
Before any billable work begins, we issue a letter of engagement that sets out the scope, fees, and expected timeline. Nothing proceeds without the client's written acknowledgement.
Document Review at Every Stage
No document leaves the office without a review by the principal lawyer. Affidavits, petitions, and wills are checked for accuracy of particulars before submission or signing.
Prompt Client Communication
We respond to client enquiries within one business day. When something unexpected arises in a matter, we contact the client promptly — we do not wait for the next scheduled update.
Continuing Professional Development
Our lawyers complete the CPD requirements set by the Malaysian Bar each year, with a focus on estate law, succession amendments, and developments in court practice.
What Shapes the Way Warisan Works
Malaysian inheritance law sits at the intersection of civil statute and, for Muslim Malaysians, Syariah principles governing Faraid distribution. Navigating this intersection requires familiarity with multiple frameworks — the Probate and Administration Act 1959, the Distribution Act 1958, the Wills Act 1959, and the relevant provisions of the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) Act 1993.
At Warisan, we do not treat these frameworks as obstacles. They are tools — ones we have worked with for years — and our role is to use them clearly on behalf of our clients. When a family comes to us following a loss, they are rarely in a position to absorb technical explanations at length. We adapt our language accordingly. The law is explained in terms that make sense for the family's specific circumstances.
We have assisted families with straightforward estates held in one name and those spread across multiple properties, accounts, and beneficiaries. The complexity of the estate does not change our approach: careful preparation, thorough documentation, and steady communication throughout. We do not overstate how long a matter will take, and we do not minimise it either. Realistic expectations, clearly stated, are part of the service we provide.
For clients who are considering a will but have not yet found a moment to act, we offer a simple starting point: a single conversation, no commitment required. Many people find that taking that first step removes a weight they had been carrying for some time.
