Even modest estates benefit from a clear written will. Without one, Malaysian intestate succession law determines how your assets are distributed — which may not reflect your wishes. A will also simplifies the administrative burden on those you leave behind.
How long does probate typically take in Malaysia?
Timelines vary with estate complexity and court schedules. A straightforward estate with a valid will may move through the High Court in several months. More complex estates — multiple properties, mixed assets, or disputes — take longer. We set realistic expectations at the outset and keep you informed of any delays.
What happens if a family member dies without a will in Malaysia?
The estate is handled under intestate succession law. For non-Muslims, the Distribution Act 1958 applies. For Muslims, Faraid — Islamic inheritance law — governs distribution. We help families understand which framework applies and what steps are needed to administer the estate correctly.

What documents should I bring to a first appointment?
For will drafting, bring your MyKad, a list of your assets, and the names and identity particulars of anyone you wish to include. For probate, bring the death certificate, any existing will, and a rough list of known assets and liabilities. We will guide you on anything additional once we understand your situation.
How are your fees structured?
Our fees are clearly stated before any engagement begins. Will drafting starts at RM 1,750, probate applications at RM 2,010, and a single-topic consultation is RM 580. For probate matters with unusual complexity, we discuss the scope and any revised estimate at the outset, and we do not change fees mid-engagement without your written agreement.
